Playing

Do I need to download anything?

No. The game runs in a Chrome, Edge (137 or newer) or Firefox (141 or newer) tab on a desktop computer. The client is about 12 MB; the world streams in as you travel.

Does it work on Mac, Linux, Firefox, Safari or my phone?

Firefox works, from version 141. On Mac and Linux, browsers with WebGPU should work but are less tested. Safari isn't supported yet, and neither are phones or tablets: the game needs WebGPU, recent WebAssembly features, a keyboard and a mouse.

Is it really vanilla?

Yes: World of Warcraft 1.12.1 on the vmangos core, at 1x rates, with the stock interface. Money shows as Mithril instead of gold, silver and copper, five addons come preinstalled (you can switch them off), and a short list of quality-of-life changes and Cartel content is on top: see What's different.

Can I use my own addons?

Not yet. The browser client loads the addons the server ships. Supporting your own is on the list.

Why does the game freeze when I switch tabs?

Browsers stop drawing tabs you can't see. Your character stays in the world; switch back and it continues.

When does the realm open?

Not announced yet. The game is being tested on a private realm. Launch news will be posted on this site.

Wallet and account

Why do I need Phantom?

Your wallet is your account. There's no account name or password to forget or leak; you prove it's you by signing a message.

Does signing in cost anything?

No. It's a signature on a text message, not a transaction. Phantom shows the site's domain in it.

What if I lose my wallet?

You lose access to the account and its characters, because the wallet is the account. Keep your recovery phrase safe. MITH you withdrew stays in the wallet as with any token.

Can I have more than one account?

Each wallet is one account. The daily payout allowance is per wallet, which is part of what keeps bots in check.

Mithril

What is MITH?

The server's money as a Solana token, ticker $MITH. 1 MITH = 1 copper of vanilla's money, whole numbers only: what vanilla called a gold coin is 10,000 MITH.

Do I pay gas?

No. Playing never asks for a transaction. Withdrawals and deposits are paid for by the server's fee wallet, including your token account's rent the first time.

How do I get MITH into my wallet?

Talk to a Mithril Exchange clerk beside any capital's bankers (or in Booty Bay, Gadgetzan, Everlook and the starting towns), or type .withdraw <amount>. Any amount, one free withdrawal every 15 minutes. It arrives in about a second.

Why is there a daily limit?

The Vault pays each wallet up to 2,000,000 MITH a day. People rarely reach it; bots farming around the clock do. Anything above it isn't lost: it's held as pending Mithril and paid out as the limit frees up.

Can I deposit MITH back into the game?

Yes. The web page builds a deposit, you approve it once in Phantom, and your character is credited when it confirms. No fee, no SOL.

Is MITH an investment?

No. MITH is the realm's currency: you earn it by playing and spend it in the world. Its price is set by the market, no return is promised, and nothing on this site is financial advice.

What's the contract address?

Not yet. The address is published on this site at launch, and only here.

Where's the price chart?

There isn't one, because MITH doesn't trade anywhere. The site will show a price only when there's a real market to read it from.

Who holds my Mithril while I play?

Your game vault: an account on Solana derived from your wallet that no private key can open. It moves only by the program's rules, and it can only ever be withdrawn to your own wallet, free, whenever you like. See Security and custody.

Auction House

Is the Goblin Market a separate market?

No, it's the game's auction house on the web. Web listings show at the in-game auctioneers, and in-game buyouts can be bought on the web.

How do I get an item I bought on the web?

By in-game mail, to the character you choose. If the lot sold in game before your order went through, your payment is refunded automatically.

Why are the prices marked (Sample)?

Until launch, the page shows real items from the game's database with invented prices, so you can see how it works. Nothing can be bought yet.

The project

Is this affiliated with Blizzard?

No. WoW Onchain is an independent fan project running a private server. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Blizzard Entertainment. World of Warcraft and Warcraft are Blizzard's trademarks.

Who made the art on this site?

It's original fan art made for this project. No art, logos, icons or fonts from the game are used on this site.
