Cartel Crates
The Lucky Lever in every Cartel storefront. Crates of real items for Mithril, the odds, the Luck-o-meter, fourteen numbered lost-epic mounts, and how to check every pull yourself.
Every Cartel storefront has a Lucky Lever, a goblin slot machine that sells crates for Mithril. Each crate holds one real item for your level: potions and trade goods, rare ingredients, world-drop blues and epics, rare pets, every race's mounts, and, once in a while, a numbered lost epic mount you can't get anywhere else. Crates never hold Mithril.
Pull the lever, watch three reels spin, and the item lands in your bags when they stop. The better the crate, the more reels line up.

The odds
Every crate rolls one of five tiers. These are the odds of every single pull, and the lever shows them on its "fine print" page.
What's inside scales with you. A level 22 pulls Silk Cloth, Iron Bars and level 20 blues; a level 58 pulls Runecloth, Essences of Fire and the epics that drop around 60. Five level bands, each with its own list.
The Luck-o-meter
Bad luck has a floor.
- An Epic or better by pull 60. If 59 crates in a row came up below Epic, the 60th is an Epic.
- A Legendary by pull 300. From pull 250 the Legendary odds climb a little with every crate, and pull 300 is certain.
The meter belongs to your wallet, not your character, so it carries over to your alts. The lever shows how close you are, and the Cartel UI draws the two needles under the reels.
The lost epics
Fourteen mounts vanilla took out of the game long ago, back on Undermine. The Cartel numbers them: fifty of each, ever, and the number is in the item's name.
- [Reins of the Frostsaber] (the Ancient Frostsaber)
- [Black Ram] and [Frost Ram]
- [Horn of the Red Wolf] and [Horn of the Arctic Wolf]
- [Whistle of the Ivory Raptor] and [Whistle of the Mottled Red Raptor]
- [White Stallion Bridle] and [Palomino Bridle]
- [Reins of the Nightsaber]
- [White Mechanostrider Mod A] and [Icy Blue Mechanostrider Mod A]
- [Green Kodo] and [Teal Kodo]
One is featured each week (the week turns over Wednesday, 00:00 UTC). When the last of the fifty is pulled, that mount retires for good and the next one goes up. Ten of each fifty are held back for Luck-o-meter Legendaries, so a full meter always pays.
Any race can ride them, and they stay tradeable until you use them, so a number can be sold on the auction house. Riding one takes the usual riding skill. When someone pulls one, the whole realm hears about it and fireworks go up over every Lucky Lever.
The live numbers (this week's lost epic, the numbers left of each mount, the latest big pulls) load here.
Other Cartel editions
Crates also carry Cartel copies of things that are normally stuck to one character or one faction: every race's mounts (a Horde orc can ride a Nightsaber), the swift ones more rarely, and the rare pets that bind on pickup in vanilla, like the Sprite Darter and the Worg pup. They bind when used, so they can be traded or sold until then.
Limited stock
The scarcest ingredients have a realm-wide daily stock, so crates never flood the market:
| Ingredient | Levels | Per day, whole realm |
|---|---|---|
| [Black Lotus] | 50-60 | 5 |
| [Arcane Crystal] | 40-49 / 50-60 | 10 / 20 |
| [Felcloth] | 50-60 | 20 |
| [Mooncloth] | 50-60 | 10 |
When the day's stock is gone, the crate picks something else from its tier. Stock resets at midnight UTC.
Check every pull yourself
Every crate is decided the moment you pull, by a number anyone can recompute.
- At midnight UTC the server draws a random seed for the day and shows its fingerprint, the seed's SHA-256, on the lever's fine print page before anyone pulls.
- Your pull's number is
SHA-256(seed:wallet:pull): the seed, your account number and your wallet's pull counter. Its first four bytes, read as one number, modulo 10,000, give the roll. - The roll picks the tier: below 10 is Legendary, the next 140 Epic, then 650 Rare, 2,200 Uncommon, and the rest Common. A Luck-o-meter pull is marked as one.
- The next day the seed itself is published. Hash it, check it matches yesterday's fingerprint, and recompute any crate of that day.
So the seed is fixed before the first crate and published only after the last, and anyone can check the result.
Paste a day's seed, the account and the pull number to recompute a crate's roll.
Where the Mithril goes
A crate is a purchase from the Mithril Cartel. Like every Cartel purchase it leaves the game's economy: while the Vault holds more than 75% of what it started with, it is burned (the Cartel burn), and below that it goes back into the Vault. Crates hand out items, never Mithril, so pulling can never drain the Vault.
