What can you earn?
What the common ways of making money pay per hour, in Mithril and in dollars at different MITH market caps. Estimates to play with, not promises.
Mithril per hour
Every coin you loot is Mithril, and Mithril is a token you can withdraw to Phantom. So the question everybody asks is what an hour of play is worth. Two things decide it:
- How much Mithril you make. That depends on what you do. The server runs vanilla's normal rates (1x), so a level 60 makes what it made in 2006.
- What one MITH is worth. That's set by the market, and the simplest way to think about it is the market cap: the price of one MITH times all 20,000,000,000 of them.
Pick a market cap to see what each way of farming pays. At a $1,000,000 market cap one MITH is $0.00005, so 10,000 MITH (what vanilla called a gold coin) is $0.50.
| Way of making Mithril | Mithril per hour | Paid by | $25k cap | $1M cap | $3M cap | $10M cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AoE farming dungeon trash (mage) | about 250,000 | the game | $0.31 | $12.50 | $37.50 | $125 |
| Level-60 quests, while they last | about 100,000 | the game | $0.13 | $5 | $15 | $50 |
| Gathering: herbs, ore, Black Lotus | about 100,000, varies | other players | $0.13 | $5 | $15 | $50 |
| Grinding humanoids at 60 | about 55,000 | the game | $0.07 | $2.75 | $8.25 | $27.50 |
| A 5-man dungeon, per person | about 30,000, plus loot | the game | $0.04 | $1.50 | $4.50 | $15 |
| Levelling from 1 to 60 | about 27,000 | the game | $0.03 | $1.35 | $4.05 | $13.50 |
Where these come from: the game-paid rates are computed from the realm's own tables (the coin each creature drops, what its loot sells to a vendor for, quest rewards) at vanilla's normal rates. Grinding means about 70 kills an hour; levelling averages 4,930,000 Mithril over the roughly 180 hours it takes to reach 60. AoE farming and gathering are estimates, because they depend on the class, the spot and the market. Folklore says "100 gold an hour" (1,000,000 Mithril): that counts selling rare drops to other players, which pays well but isn't steady. Once the realm has been farmed for a while, this page will show measured rates from the server's money log.
Who pays you
The table splits income by who pays it, because the two kinds behave differently:
- The game pays for mob coin, quest money and anything you sell to an NPC merchant. That Mithril comes out of the Vault of Undermine, so it counts against your daily allowance (below).
- Other players pay for what you sell them: herbs, ore, cloth, enchanting materials, gear on the Goblin Market. That Mithril moves from their vault to yours and doesn't touch the Vault, so it has no daily cap. What it's worth depends on what people will pay for it.
The daily allowance
The Vault pays each wallet at most 2,000,000 MITH a day. At the rates above that's about 8 hours of AoE farming or 35 hours of grinding, so normal play never gets near it. It exists for bots that farm around the clock. Anything above it isn't lost: it's held as pending Mithril and paid out over the next days (how the allowance works).
Selling to other players has no such limit.
What sets the market cap
Not playing. The market cap moves when people buy MITH and when people sell it. Players who withdraw and sell push it down; people who buy MITH to spend in game (a boost, a rare recipe) or to hold push it up. A realm full of bots that sell everything they farm is bad for everyone's hourly rate, which is why the realm limits new accounts per network, gates new characters, and checks every move.
